Molybdenum

Overview

Molybdenum (often referred to as “Moly”) is a high melting point alloying metal used primarily in iron, steels and superalloys to enhance hardenability, strength, wear and corrosion resistance.

Molybdenum is an increasingly important metal in both the industrial world and our daily lives. We live in a world where there are constant demands for more advanced materials with better hot strength, superior properties at low temperatures, more corrosion resistance and added wear resistance so more efficient equipment can be designed and built to improve our lives. Molybdenum helps meet these demands. Due to the unique physical qualities of molybdenum, demand is leveraged to the steel, nuclear energy, oil and gas and petrochemical refining sectors.
